Andrea Longo posted disabling background execution

I don't want my app to run in the background so I tried setting UIApplicationExitsOnSuspend to YES in my plist. Xcode recognizes the key correctly but it doesn't seem to make any difference? This is exactly what the docs say to do but is it not the right way?

Andrea Longo: The docs didn't help much with how to actually add new keys, so I had it wrong. "YES" as a string won't work, it needs to be a boolean. To get that you have to use <true> in the plist. I also can't find any way to add new keys through xcode so I just... [read more]

I've got a short html5 video/canvas app that displays fine locally, but will not render if served from a web site. Also does nto render properly in IOS as a webView. Need help to figure out the problem. Come find me at registration desk at the front entrance.

Carl Baltrunas, aka r3ststop: bump. the picture in the comment above is an example of what is working in Safari on my Mac. Does not work in Safari on the iPod/iPhone/iPad in 3.x or 4.x. Have not tried it on an iPhone 4 or iPad 2.

Need help to see if my iPod Touch can be recovered. It got washed in my Jeans pocket last Saturday and still seems to have not dried out yet. Any tips to make it dry out quicker? I've tried leaving in sealed bag of rice for the past 4 days, with no real change in its state. Still feels cold and clammy.

Michael G. Emmons: My fiance dropped her iPhone4 in a sink full of water last year. What worked for her was putting a pile of rice on a baking pan, covering the phone with the rice and putting it in the oven on as low as it will go. Dried it fairly quickly and no adver... [read more]
Christopher Allen: Actually, if you dry the rice first, and immediately put it in a plastic ziploc or tupperware after it cools with your wet device, it will pull all the water out of the device. -- Christopher Allen
Carl Baltrunas, aka r3ststop: I was not sure about heating the device or the rice. I will try heating up the rice in the oven in a shallow pan and then putting it in plastic with the iPod. Not sure if I want to tempt fate and even on low heat put the iPod in the oven. It has been... [read more]

My team has a couple of devs and a design we can get done this weekend. We still need a bit of data wrangling, though. We need a whole bunch of CSV files, all in the same format, translated into a sqlite3 database. It'll need a little bit of code to do a little bit of data husbandry. Dead easy for the right person. Shouldn't take very long and a neat opportunity to do a little open source work. Drop me a note if you're interested.

Brian Chapados: Hey Steve, I'm interested in helping hearing more about WhirlyGraph and trying to help out with your data wrangling problem. I'm upstairs in the round table room. Drop me a line and I'll try to find you.
